Description

Well first off this is for the Pageant over at :iconkawaiicontest: We had to portray our characters in a sweet smiling manner in Civilian form. And all I could think of what this.

Back in the day, before all the fighting and hardships. Jenni once had a small family, a husband named Jiro, and a soon to be daughter Lynn. They had happiness and everything seems wonderful. But during a battle to protect her family, they were lost.. Jiro and Lynn were captured, and Jenni has no clue that they have been kept in a stasis chamber by the enemy. She keeps this photo of them (right before Lynn was born, they had no other pictures as of yet) at the happiest moment in their lives... Thinking if she will ever have that again...

Jiro and Jenni were both RP characters from back in 2004-2006. Between a wonderful friend of mine. This was our goal for our characters in the story we were doing. But I have long sense lost all of our pages we once had... We will be starting over as soon as we all have time lol..

Ok, imma break this down in several parts so i dont miss anything
structure
for the man, you need to look at the muscle (anatomy) the wrist on the male arm that is held up needs to be re-proportioned (yeah i know that word does not exist but you knwo what i mean) the elbow flesh needs to be a bit more beefy and slowly goes slender towards the wrist, and dont forget the notch that shows where the forearm meets the hand itself, it will look like a bump on the wrist. the hand needs to be look like an upside down trapizoid with a slanted rectangle on top, meaning a bit mor squarer and dont forget the knuckles. It looks like you took out all of the bone in his body. but you dont need to add lines to show these features you can use shadows.. Now moving up to the chest area, unless you were using a squares and boxe and rectangles to proportionthe man then i would understand, the borad shoulders but look at body builders--they have a lot of muscles. search some and look at they shoulder, then is a muscle that comes from teh back of the neck to where the shoulder begins on the chest. you are missing that, from here Jiro looks like a cuvry body with a head sitting on top of a bone. so when drawing him in this specific pose, try thinking of a stretched triangle on top of square.

for the woman, the angle is a bit off, i see what you are tryin to do, but it looks a like a picasso, one part going one way the other oart going the other. the chest and up looks fine but you left out the same muscle like on jiro. however the lower part threw me off a little but that can be fixed if you show a little bit of the other leg, because now it looks like a profile pic of her belly and front view of her chest to match the bottom oart to the top part you can add both legs and used the shadows all underneath the belly and on the sides adn showing less of the sides of the pants and more of a round belly.

Shading
for the man, try a upper left hand corner light hitting them, because right now it is looking a bit flat. Strong highlights on the hairs the finger tips, the shoulder, the tank top loop, the tip of his nose and part of his cheek that is closest to the nose and the eye.

for the woman the highlights suggestively go on her face (top of the cheeks, nose and hari bangs), on top of the girls(skin white tee and ride shirt but ONLY the TOP) the way you have it now makes her look flater then she is, the top of teh belly, the necklace, thetop parts of teh fingers and the a smal sliver of the wrist that is resting the belly .

when doing the shading, is you just place it in any way, it will look flat follow your form of the subject and it will give you a more realistic feel or in a way a more natural feel
